Merriedale Guest House - Paignton

The hallmark of my stay was the really good Full English breakfast.

The room could benefit from some blackout curtains to improve sleep quality during the bright mornings.

My room was nicely decorated and bathroom was clean. The staff was accommodating and responsive to requests. The location in a lovely quiet area was perfect and there were a main shopping street and shopping streets nearby.

Its location was absolutely fabulous and perfect, right opposite a park. The staff was very friendly and excellent, as well as owner.

The three-night stay was fantastic with stunning views of the beach and Torquay from our top-floor room. Breakfast was a standout, with hearty portions that fueled us for our outings, especially loved the baked beans. The Guesthouse's location was perfect, only a short walk from both the beach and a funfair, making it easy for us to enjoy the attractions like Pirates Bay Adventure Golf. We also appreciated that Janet kindly helped retrieve my husband's forgotten medication.

Room up top had an epic view of the beach and Torquay, super lekker! Brekkie was a big winner too, loads of options and proper filling. Bryan even checked if we needed anything, such a chill vibe. The beach and funfair just a stroll away.

The compact room was a bit snug, but we managed fine.

The personalized service from the hosts was really good.

While the views from our Double Room with Sea View were lovely, the room felt quite cramped. The parking situation was quite tricky. It often left us searching for available spots, especially during peak times.

Make sure to enjoy the lush gardens nearby. They're perfect for a relaxing stroll after breakfast.

Our room had amazing views of Torquay, but it was quite compact. Breakfast portions were hearty and delicious, energizing for the day.

Had a blast with my friends! We explored the 400 acres of lovely gardens and enjoyed water skiing and snorkeling nearby. Breakfast was on point and kept us fueled for the day. The hosts were super friendly.

The only downside was that the room felt a bit cramped at times, but we managed to make it work.

Some rooms can feel snug. I noticed a few guests wishing for more space. The breakfast timing is a bit tight, just a half-hour window, which might not suit everyone. The Wi-Fi signal can drop on the upper floors, and not having room service can be a hassle if you're looking to dine privately. Watch out for minor noise disturbances. The walls are a bit thin, which could affect your rest, and the parking situation could be tricky during busier periods-it's limited and could leave you hunting for a spot.

This was just a good pick for a city break in Paignton with fantastic value for money. The breakfast was freshly cooked and generously portioned, keeping us full for hours. Be aware of the narrow lane near the hotel to avoid traffic jams when arriving or leaving.

Fantastic Stay with Beautiful Sea Views

We enjoyed a lovely three-night stay with amazing views of the beach and Torquay from our top-floor room. The breakfast was a highlight, with generous portions and delicious options like the baked beans. For future guests, take a leisurely walk to the nearby beach for a great day out.
